Artists instructions for rules of
engagement:
The Original Application must be
signed by all members, below the hold
harmless, and media coverage waiver, page 2 of the application.
Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted!
ICE
may be substituted at Organizers discretions as an alternative
medium due to weather. The teams will be supplied with
four blocks of Ice, 21" x 42" x 14" thick. Drawings & Models will be judged in extreme emergencies, for
non-alternate dates. Paint is not allowed for layout of design on the block, only magic
markers or chalk lines. Plagiarism of Sculptures is not allowed. Only the snow from the
original packed block of snow, 6 x 6 x 10 may be used in the sculpture.
The sculpture area is not to exceed a 6 radius from center of block. No height
limitation. Violations of rules will receive point reductions at judging.
Drawing & Model:
A drawing of the intended art
placed on an 8 ½" x 11" sheet of paper, with title of sculptured piece, &
artists, must accompany the
signed application with all team signatures
for acceptance into competition. No changes can be
made of the intended sculpture once application has been received.
Power Tools,
Armatures, Molds, Jigs, Fixtures, Props, & COLORANTS Are Not Permitted.
TEAMS:
Only the 3 members
registered to carve on the team may do any work on the sculpture
or be inside the rope lighting.
Only 1 Team member may be replaced, & only for medical reasons once, & only up to
1 week prior to the Competition Start Date. One person
cannot enter the competition unaided due to safety regulations. If A
Team has entered competition and looses both Teammates due to unforeseen
circumstance, a decision by the FOSI board will determine if continuation of
Sculpture is allowable due to Safety Regulatory Stats.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY & MEDIA RELEASE:
Contestants assume all risks for personal
injury and/or property damage associated with any activity of the N Y S
Competition, 2005, & must sign a Hold Harmless and Indemnity Agreement. All
applicants must sign a release of photo and editorial rights of sculptures for use to
promote artists and the snow sculpting movement. A payment of
$1.00 will be paid to each Team for media release.
Eligibility:
Teams of Two or three adults, age 17 or over, One member must
be 18 yrs, and all are New York Residents since Dec. 1, 2004.
Sculpture Size
Each Team will be provided with a packed block
of Man-Made Snow, 6x6x10. The area will not exceed a 6 radius from
center of block, No height limitation.
Tools:
Each Team will be provided with a ladder and some Tools.
Please bring your own specialized tools.

eight categories with 1 the lowest and 10 the highest. Duplicate numbers may be given in
different categories per sculpture.

First Place Team will receive $1,000.00
transportation Funds to The US National Competition, 2006. The Winning Team must attend US
National Competition, representing New York State to receive Sponsorship Award. Team Will
receive Medals, Trophy & Certificate
Second Place: New York Games 2005 Trophy
The Second Place team will
receive; Will receive Medals, Trophy & Certificate & an application for entry in
the US National Competition 2006 if the first place team
cannot attend.
