Installing Northnet Software for Macintosh using EasyNet CD
Note: If you have MAC OS 7.1, please call for installation instructions.
Step 1: Open the CD ROM tray, place the CD in the tray, text side up, and close the tray.
Step 2: Double click the SETUP.EXE icon.
Step 3: Click on "I Agree" when you see the License Agreement. If you click on "Disagree" the program will close
Step 4: If you are prompted to install Open Transport and Open Transport PPP, click on YES and restart according to the Apple instructions. After you restart, you must repeat steps 1 through 3 and then continue to step 5.
Step 5: The Personal Configuration window should open automatically. If it does not, then click the Personal Configuration button.
- ISP Configuration Code: NNT Then Click NEXT.
- ISP UserName: Type your username as it appears on your application. You have a copy in your instruction packet. This MUST be in Lowercase letters. Then click Next.
- Your Real Name: You should type your full name here. Then click Finish.
Step 6: Installing the Software
- Although you can install any of the programs listed on the screen, we recommend you install Netscape.
- If you have 8Meg of memory or less, chose Netscape Navigator 3.01
- If you have more then 8Meg of memory, you can install Netscape Communicator.
- To install any program, simply select the program to install, and click the INSTALL button. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen, and restart your Macintosh when the installation is complete.
- After you restart your computer, you must start the CD ROM program again in order to continue. Repeat steps 1-3 and then continue on to step 7.
Step 7: Internet Configuration
- Click the Internet Configuration button
- Select the closest location. This is VERY important so that you can make sure you are dialing a LOCAL phone call. If you don't select the closest location you will be dialing long distance, and be charged on your phone bill. So, make SURE you change this!
- If the number you wish to call is not listed, or you were given a special number, click on "Use non-listed phone number" and enter the number in the box.
- Click on Configure, and then click on Ok
- Close the EasyNet program by clicking on "Quit"
Step 8: How to Connect
- Choose the Apple Menu Item, then Control Panels, then PPP.
- Enter your password (in lowercase letters), then choose the Connect button.
- After you connect, open and run any of the programs you have installed.
Optional:
For your convenience, you may want to create an alias for PPP.
- First open the control panels. You can do this by clicking the hard drive icon, then system folder, then control panels
- Single click on PPP to highlight it
- Press Command M
- Move Alias to desktop
- Double clicking the alias will open PPP
